Delta Airbus A330 Engine Shuts Down in Flight near Tokyo

Delta Airlines Airbus A330 was performing flight from Hong Kong to Seattle, when the crew needed to shut the left hand engine (PW4168A) down.

The aircraft diverted to Tokyo’s Narita Airport for a safe landing on runway 34L about 25 minutes later.

Japan’s Ministry of Transport reported the crew received an overtemperature indication for the #1 engine.
