Lithuanian MRO provider FL Technics is up to launch a line maintenance station in Zhukovsky airport (ZIA), near Moscow, in spring 2017.

It will be the company’s fourth line service site in Russia. The new station would be brought into operation in the first place to serve the interest of Ural Airlines, FL Technics’ owner Avia Solutions Group revealed to the Russian Aviation Insider at the MRO Russia & CIS 2017 forum.

FL Technics’ station in ZIA will start from servicing Airbus A320 family aircraft. However, the company will also be able to provide maintenance services to operators of other aircraft types like, for example, Belarusian Belavia, which predominantly flies to Zhukovsky by Boeing 737CLs.

Avia Solutions Group’s representative left open the possibility that in future FL Technics will also start offering base maintenance services in Zhukovsky Airport. Much will depend on the gateway’s development rate and whether this type of maintenance and repair works will actually be in demand among local air carriers, the company’s official underlines.

Remarkably, FL Technics will be the first MRO provider to open a line maintenance station in Zhukovsky. This airport started commercial operations in 2016 and previously, there was no need for line maintenance in ZIA whatsoever as airlines did not perform non-return charter flights there.

Zhukovsky’s line maintenance station will be FL Technics’ fourth outpost in Russia. Apart from that, the Lithuanian MRO provider offers its services in the airports of Kazan and Sochi. One more site, which is operated by English company Storm Aviation (FL Technics’ subsidiary since 2011) will shortly start to provide maintenance services to VIM-Avia’s Airbus A330s in Domodedovo.
