Iran Aseman A320 Engine Fails and Shuts Down in Flight

An Iran Aseman Airlines Airbus A320-200, registration EP-ZAR performing flight EP-850 from Tehran Mehradbad to Zahedan (Iran), was climbing out of Tehran when the crew stopped the climb at FL140 reporting an engine (V2500) had needed to be shut down.

The aircraft returned to Tehran Mehrabad for a safe landing about 20 minutes after departure.

A replacement A320-200 registration EP-APE reached Zahedan with a delay of 3.5 hours.
