Russia Makes Further Progress with MC-21 Test Program

The MC-21 aircraft developed by Irkut Corporation, which is a member of a United Aircraft Corporation, is further progressing in the flight test program.

On 27 April one of the test aircraft, the MC-21-300, performed a flight from Irkutsk to Ulyanovsk Vostochny airport, where it will be painted according to production technologies. After the painting works are completed, the aircraft will fly to Ramenskoye airport (Zhukovsky, Moscow region) to continue flight tests.

Currently, there are three aircraft flying the test program in order to bring certification closer. Meanwhile, the company said in the statement that the assembly and systems installation of the fourth test plane were also already completed.

МС-21 aircraft will be certified both to Russian and international standards. Worth highlighting that МС-21 medium-haul aircraft family will include two aircraft, MC-21-200 with seating capacity up to 165 passengers, and MC-21-300 with up to 211, respectively.

As for now, Russia-manufactured aircraft is on the order from such customers as Aeroflot, Red Wings, UTair, IrAero and others.
