Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency, Rosaviatsia, has published a list of airlines recommended for civil servants traveling on business.

The list consists of 20 Russian carriers—including Aeroflot and its subsidiaries, Aurora, Donavia, Pobeda, Rossiya Airline, OrenAir as well as Vim Avia, S7 and Globus, Grozny Avia, IrAero, Nordavia, Red Wings, Rusline, Severstal, NordStar, Ural Airlines, UTair, Yakutia and Yamal.

The requirement for civil servants to choose Russian carriers when traveling on business, except when only foreign carriers serve a necessary route or if fares are sold out for a particular date, was announced in May 2015.

The mandate is one of the several recent moves by the government to support the Russian airline industry during a time when passenger numbers are decreasing.
